The Wonders of Photoshop

A woman’s image is now, and will always be, a popular debate. What has been thought of the “actual” way a woman should look is constantly changing, from Barbie to Beyonce, we just can’t make up our minds on how it is supposed to be. Currently, the tiny trend still reigns supreme, and with the powers of Photoshop, it is making our favorite celebrities look better than ever, without even stepping foot inside a gym. Our culture has accepted the beauty of being thin and fit, and now with Photoshop, every thin and fit celebrity or model who graces the cover of our favorite magazines isn’t exactly as thin and fit as we see.

With all this Photoshop craziness, would it be correct to say that that those who are counter hegemonic minded, will discredit these celebrities and start thinking that thin can’t be popular anymore because it is so hard to make yourself look perfect without the help of technology. It seems that more people are catching on to how many images are actually Photoshopped. Maybe this could start a revolution against Photoshopping images, and when a celebrity is on a magazine cover or ad, we will actually get to see what they really look like. Maybe this could help the masses accept that imperfection is what’s truly beautiful.

It’s pretty scary seeing celebrities without the help of Photoshop. Check out some popular images: http://www.thelipstickdiaries.com/tag/photoshop/
