Is it really good advertising?

This week during class we focused on the power of advertising and how it affects consumers. By living in a capitalistic society, we are constantly being exposed to all different types of advertisements. From television commercials to billboards and magazines, our society is constantly be followed by the brainwashing of advertisements. To all of the women who are going to the local Walgreens and wandering down the makeup aisle for cover up, have you ever noticed yourself debating over the Maybelline or Loreal products? As soon as you grasp the Loreal product in your hand the first thing that comes to your mind is, “because you’re worth it.” Loreal ads are probably one of the most memorable brands that stand out in my mind. They are continuously publicizing themselves by using celebrities in their ads. In addition, Loreal ads continuously repeat that one phrase that no one can ever forget, “BECAUSE YOU’RE WORTH IT.” Although this phrase does bother me at times it is catchy and does appeal to most women. I don’t think that there are many women out there who would not recognize this catch phrase. The company has branded themselves into the woman consumer’s mind. Now is that good advertising or just brainwashing?http://pics.drugstore.com/catimg/136308/cosmetics_main_a_a2.jpg
